Jesus prophesies the destruction of the temple

As they were leaving the temple, one of His followers mentioned how impressive the buildings were. Jesus replied:

"See these great buildings? They will all be torn down."

His disciples asked Him when they will be torn down, and He answered:

"Be cautious, many will claim to be me and they will deceive many."
"When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, don't be alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is not yet. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, famines, and troubles. These are just the beginning of sorrows."
"But take heed of yourselves. They will hand you over, and you will be beaten in synagogues. You will stand before rulers and kings for my sake, as a testimony against them."
"But first, the gospel must be spread to all nations."
"When they arrest you and hand you over, don't worry about what to say or how to say it. The Holy Ghost will speak through you."
"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his son. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death."
"All people will hate you because of my name, but the one who endures to the end will be saved."
"When you see the abomination of desolation, described by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place, flee to the mountains."
"And then if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it."
"For many false Christs and prophets will appear, performing signs and wonders to deceive the people. Be on your guard. I have foretold you all things."
"After these tribulations the sun and the moon will be darkened, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see Me coming in the clouds with power and great glory. And then I will send the angels and gather My people together."
"Learn the lesson of the fig tree: When its branches become tender and it puts out new leaves, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see these things happening, you will know that I am near. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away."
"This generation will not pass away until all these things have happened, but no one knows the day or the hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Therefore watch and pray. For you do not know when the time will come."
"I am like a man going on a long journey, who leaves his house and leaves his servants in charge, and commands the porter to keep watch. Therefore be ready, for you do not know when the master of the house will return, whether in the evening or in the morning. He may come suddenly and find you asleep."
"I say the same to you as I say to everybody: Watch!"
